When Everything Seems go wrong: My Experiences in joining two Competitions

It’s been a while since the last time I wrote an article here in my website. Well I’m quite busy with my job which I really need to exert extra effort because I’m now leading the team and I want to become more responsible, another thing that made me busy was because of the midterm examination and I joined the Interpretative dance and Essay writing competition in School. For those who want to make their essays better for their homework or applications, services like the essay writing service reddit are incredibly beneficial.

Two weeks before “Buwan ng Wika”, the school announced that all of the students are required to join one of the programs or competitions to get the grades for midterm. I signed up for Essay Writing competition which is really my passion and some of the students joined the drawing contest, singing contest, debate and interpretative dance competition. Majority of my classmates joined the dance competition. One week left and I heard that they haven’t started anything, In the meeting, I noticed that they are just laughing and talking about things that are not related with the planning for the dance competition. Although I don’t know much about dancing, but in my heart I know I can help them with my leadership. And so I stepped up and took the lead. I facilitated our meeting and conceptualized everything and it went very well. We hired a choreographer and right after our evening classes we directly went to GMA, Cavite to have our practice. I really saw the dedication of everyone and their determination to win the competition to think that it was hard for all of us since we are all a working students. The practice period ended and everything was all set.

On the day of the competition and we had our final practice in GMA, Cavite. The program started 1PM but we arrived late. I checked the line-up of sequence of performers and I found out that our group was not on the list. I was very disappointed with the organizer and asked them to include us on the list and I explained to them everything and they approved it. There are total of twelve entries competing for one title. Our time to perform came and some of us are very nervous that’s why most of us messed up and forgot some of the moves that we were perfectly practiced. The program ended and announced the winners but sadly we didn’t get either into top five. I calmed down myself but honestly I felt that we’re almost there if we just performed what we had practiced. But I realized that the bonding, fun and camaraderie of the group are priceless. We may not bag the title but the experiences are the greatest price ever.

On the other hand, the following day was my essay writing competition. I prepared for it one week before and I practiced more of the topics that will be possibly thrown to the participants. The day of the competition came and I was very excited about it and to my surprise I’m glad that the topic that they gave was the one I practiced. The time ended and I am confident with the article that I made. I’m so excited and nervous at the same time when it is the time in announcing the winners. Third place, then second place and then first place… I never heard my name. I was deeply hurt and very disappointed with myself. I tried my very best but I think my best wasn’t that good enough.

I came to the realization and asked God why are these happening to me? God led me in James 4:10 and it says there “Humble yourselves before the Lord and He will lift you up”. Yes God showed me that I was very boastful and acknowledged only my own capabilities and never rely unto God. I underestimated those students and assumed that I was ahead of them.

For some this is just an ordinary day but for me this day really meant a lot for me. I learned how to humble myself and think that everyone is above me, to expect less and let God do His job, to accept the things I can’t and just enjoy every single moment and I learned that there’s a blessing in every failure.
