In our time today, labels and titles have become a dominant part of the society. And most of the time, it can only add to the confusion because it seems that when you put on labels, you are also judging someone for what they look like or how they appear to be, even without knowing the person first. This entitlement brings a lot of different perspectives colliding. Perspectives clash based on how we have placed titles in every single thing we do – through our actions, and the deeds we have done. People weigh in each capability of a person based on his/her accomplishments and a lot of people even take a second look on how others act and appear to be, why is that?
But, why should we divide ourselves constantly based on how people wear these names that they’ve put unto themselves or how people involuntary carry these names put unto them. We are still people, regardless of race, gender or colo; we are all living and breathing the same air. Because, first and foremost, isn’t being diverse and being different a beautiful thing? It means that we make our own decisions and we all but have our own personal beliefs that no outsider can easily influence nor corrupt our minds based on how we choose to live our life. Being diversely beautiful is a gift as a Christian church in Dubai believes so, and having God’s guidance is a means of accomplishing that. To set aside any means of comparison is one way of living in peace and without judgments clouding our minds; it is a good practice in terms of living by God’s teachings and in the direction of a less complicated outlook on life.
So the question we need to ask ourselves, Why should we stop calling ourselves Christians?
The word Christian originated because of how the followers of Jesus were behaving like Jesus and pagans from an outside group saw to it and were able to observe the liking of Jesus and his followers similarities and behavior; as such they termed them Christians. Thus the name Christians, were given to Jesus’ followers.
The name is known as “Little Christ”, as they (Jesus’ followers) were described as someone who is not hateful, prideful and judgmental; they live based on Jesus’ teachings and have vast knowledge of the Bible.
Therefore, in true reasoning if you should be able to call yourself as a Christian; it is how you truly act as one and being able to personify it. Not because you proclaim to be, but how people see your actions genuinely.
It is sad to say that there are people who proclaim themselves as Christians and represent themselves as a true follower of Jesus, but they condemn or hate on people who do not have the same perspectives or beliefs as they are. As a true Christian, they will not resort to hate nor condemning someone just because you do not see eye to eye. Jesus did not shun anyone because of other people’s mistrust or hate for him, Jesus still showed his love for them.
If you are indeed a true Jesus follower, other will see as well as feel it in your actions. They will know because of love – the purest form of affection towards others. Those who are a true Christian would not need an identifier to do good deeds because they are told that they are Christians so they are “supposed to do good. They are, by nature, willingly and graciously do good because they want to not because it is told that they have to.
