The word independent is defined as not subject to control by others, not requiring or relying on something else, not contingent, not looking to others for one’s opinions or for guidance in conduct, not bound by or committed to a political party and showing a desire for freedom. But have you search yourself and ask a question “Am I independent to live alone”? or much better if we ask ourselves “Am I dependent to live alone with God”?.. Search our hearts us we approach the Prayer and Fasting week. Let us experience to become intimate with Him by becoming independent to the pleasures of this world and become dependent to our God alone.

There is no thrill for us in walking, yet it is the test for all of our steady and enduring qualities. To walk and not faint is the highest stretch possible as a measure of strength. The word walk is used in the Bible to express the character of a person (John is looking at Jesus) as He walked. and said, ’Behold the Lamb of God!’ (John 1:35-36). There is nothing abstract or obscure in the Bible; everything is vivid and real. God does not say, Be spiritual, but He says, Walk before Me (Genesis 17:1).

Fasting requires self-control and discipline as one denies the natural desires of the flesh. During spiritual fasting, the believer’s focus is removed from the physical things of this world and intensely concentrated on God. Let us put it differently, as we fast may we learn to directs our hunger toward God. It clears the mind and body of earthly attentions and draws us close to God. So, as we gain spiritual clarity of thought while fasting, it allows us to hear God more clearly. Fasting also demonstrates a profound need for God’s help and guidance through complete dependence upon him.
