After five amazing days from Baler, I just got back home yesterday night. It was an awesome tour. I had the chance to spend a quality time with Kervin and his family. Kervin has a loving family. Even though they’re not wealthiest type of family but they are rich in love. His family came from a very humble beginning and that’s why I can relate to him in so many ways. They are striving every day to live a life. Their family’s business is making and selling leche plan, maja blanca, shredded beef, banana cake, cassava cake, etc.
For five days of staying there, I’ve got the chance to meet all of them on a personal level and I felt like I was part of their family as well. I just met Kervin four months ago but it seems like our bonding and fellowship are equal to years of knowing someone. He’s a brother to me and I’m glad that God allowed me to meet him. We’re almost the same in a lot of things. We have the same struggles, same humour, same sports, same passion in knowing the Lord, etc. Our friendship started during our badminton fellowship where I taught him some basics of badminton, then we had our group outing in Camaya in Batangas, then numerous times of sleepover in their home in Las Piñas, then Church activities, fellowships, bonding as prayer partner and how we’ll grow in our relationship with the Lord. I am seeing myself in him that’s why I think I am more concern in His walk with the Lord. I don’t want him to commit the same mistakes I committed that will hinder his growth in the relationship with the Lord. I know that God will use him mightily for the advancement of His Kingdom here on earth and I’m really excited for that. My heart overwhelms every time I am seeing him happy because of the things that he did to glorify the Lord.
I’ve been to Baler a year ago already but this year’s vacation in Baler was extra special because of Kervin. I’ve got the chance to know him more, how he’s really serious in knowing more the Lord, how he’s struggling but keep on moving forward and how his ups and downs shaped him to become the person he is now. It made me realise how great it is to have a relationship with the Lord and inspired me to run this race.
My only prayer is that he allow the holy spirit to work in Him always. I know that he has plans of working on a ship and it really saddens me every time we talk about it, but at the same time it excites me more to see how God will use him and how he will glorify the Lord in all of his work. I just always think of what Kervin said to me during our drinking session in Sabang Beach to not always depend on him but to God only. He’s really a blessing to me and I’m always grateful to God that He uses Kervin for me to grow more also in my relationship with the Lord. I’m so excited for the years to come for both of us.
Thank you Lord for the gift of brother-in-Christ. May we grow more in the image of You. Looking forward to serve you more this year 2018.
